KEITH WHITCOMB JR., Staff Writer BENNINGTON -- A Bennington man who pleaded guilty in May to misusing more than $170,000 from an estate he was managing was sentenced by a federal court judge Wednesday to serve six months in prison. Robert F. Baker, 43, was also ordered by U.S. District Court Judge Gavin Murtha to repay $113,000. According to the written decision, filed in U.S. District Court District of Vermont, Baker must report to serve his sentence before Nov. 5. He will also be under supervised release for three years following the completion of his sentence. Baker, who formerly owned a travel business, Global Link Travel in Bennington, was represented by Bennington attorney David Silver. According to court documents, in August 2011 Baker was appointed by the Bennington Probate Court administrator of the estate of Nada Ledinko, who passed away in July of that year. The U.S. District Attorney's Office District of Vermont accused Baker of diverting $171,000 of the estate for his personal use by cashing two large checks. Baker pleaded guilty in May to a felony count of wire fraud. Contact Keith Whitcomb Jr. at kwhitcomb@benningtonbanner.com or follow him on Twitter @KWhitcombjr.
