Israel-friendly companies ban Iranian TV channels

It seems that the West is sloughing over its established definition of freedom of expression when the Iranian channels HispanTV and Press TV come under brutal censorship by the Israel-friendly satellite companies in Europe.

Evidently spearheaded by the Zionists, Spain's satellite provider Hispasat has ordered Overon to take Press TV and Hispan TV off the air. No wonder, the illegal move created extreme joy in the Zionist organizations such as the American Jewish Committee (AJC).

"This is an important development in the worldwide effort to contain the defiant regime in Tehran, one we have been watching carefully for months and discussing with our friends in Spain," said AJC Executive Director David Harris.

"Hispasat did the right thing," Harris continued. "No satellite company in the Western world should enable the dissemination of propaganda from an Iranian government that denies human rights, supports terror organizations and is determined to achieve nuclear weapons capability. That Hispasat's action triggered such an angry response in Tehran tells us all we need to know about its significance."

Overon says as the EU has blacklisted the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Hispan TV and Press TV must be taken off the air. It should be noted that Hispan TV is officially registered in Spain and operates under the country's media laws. Besides, the EU has confirmed to Press TV that its anti-Iran sanctions do not apply to the country's media.

From a legal point of view, this move runs counter to the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). Article ten of the ACHR says, "Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. This Article shall not prevent States from requiring the licensing of broadcasting, television or cinema enterprises."

Hispasat is partly owned by Eutelsat whose French-Israeli CEO is widely believed to be the architect of attacks on Iranian media in Europe.

Without even Michel de Rosen being the Zionist CEO of Eutelsat, the European media is so pathetically caught up in the claws of the Zionists that they would readily give in to their demands especially when they are directly aimed at dispelling the political sway of the Islamic Republic.

On the one hand, the Zionists keep depicting themselves in the light of a nation so viciously persecuted in the course of history at the hands of the Europeans, an excuse which they use as a way of emotional blackmail. This, the Europeans sadly buy and seek to make up for the 'holocaust', an inflated issue, a political ace in the hole for the Zionists.

On the other hand, Europe is infernally prone to smother any voice coming from Iran and that which is in defense of the Islamic Republic as the Europeans are fearful of alternative channels such as Press TV, Hispan TV and RT which deliver a truthful report of the public discontent in the European community. The fact is that Europe is crumbling from within and there is no economic salvation in sight and Europe prefers media blackout. Further to that, the Zionist lobby is so powerful in Europe that they prefer to cave to their wanton demands, ignore the very basis principles upon which the European Convention of Human Rights is built, and avoid withering criticism or political isolation from Washington.

In point of fact, Europe is plunging into financial abysm largely on account of its reliance on US imperialism and its support of the Zionist regime. The role these alternative channels play in raising intellectual awareness and political insight is an irrefutable reality which serves as a resounding slap in the face of Europe. To put it in better terms, these channels hold a mirror to the European audience wherein the reality is reflected as it should. And this is exactly what harrows Europe with fear and wonder.

What is currently happening to the Iranian media is not just limited to Iran or to the Iranian community. These channels and like news outlets are the inalienable rights of the world citizens who are entitled to have an alternative voice different from theirs and choose to hear.

In fact, depriving the international community from these channels is stripping the people across the globe of the choice to hear. It is not 'kosher' and amounts to an act of intellectual abacination.

But the basic claim, one which has been submitted over and over in the Sykes case and Wyman is the court acting without jursidiction for over 3 years and nothing is done. Ken and I complain vociferously like banshees and the ARDC shoots the messengers and lets the miscreants go.

All of the above torts and claims are present in the following cases: Tyler, Bedin, Sykes, Gore, Wyman--it it reported over and over to the authorities and nothing is done.

How long do these victims have to wait?

And I can't do it all by myself -- even with the wonderful assistance of Ken and the victims. So what i am asking is if you can make a donation, no matter how small, it will go to helping me help the victims. I now keep track of all this pro bono work to the victims of court corruption that I have encoutered calling this "cost of corruption" and that is up to $273,000 through August 31, 2012. Cases like Wyman need to be funded. (Litigation funding is very, very lucrative at 2% per month interest, so consider signing up).

I plan on delivering books to the FBI next week on the Wyman case to reflect their recollection that the Wymans are suffering and terrorized by an out of control court acting for 3 years under "color of statute". I hope they can help, but so far, it's just me and Ken. I can't begin to tell you how many attorneys I have encountered just look the other way and walk away from this horrid mess claiming, "it's too difficult", "you can't go up against THAT", "probate court is the worst court in the system for getting screwed over--don't get involved in any difficult case there, you'll just end up breaking your heart when you see what goes on."--all from seasoned, experienced attorneys! Years and years of experience.

Too late for that.

Bugs and Worms in Patients' Heads, Not the Skin

• Point out that in this restrospective study of patients with this condition there was no objective evidence of skin infestation, although many had evidence of dermatitis on biopsy.

Patients who thought that bugs, worms, or inanimate materials were crawling on their skin or living under it had no objective evidence of infestation, a retrospective study determined.
Among 80 patients complaining of delusional infestations who had biopsies, not one was positive, according to Mark D.P. Davis, MD, and colleagues from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
However, almost two-thirds of the patients had dermatitis, "raising the possibility that skin inflammation and its attendant tactile discomfort might be the trigger provoking delusional symptoms in susceptible individuals," the researchers observed online in the Archives of Dermatology.
Delusional infestation is a diagnostic term describing patients' fixed but incorrect beliefs that minute objects on or in their skin are causing them to experience symptoms of discomfort.
Many patients with this disorder bring specimens such as skin flakes, hair, and stool as proof of the infestation, believing that physicians dismiss their complaints and don't closely examine their skin.
Many ask for further testing, but no study as yet has evaluated the potential benefit of biopsy in this situation.
So Davis and his group reviewed the medical records of 108 patients with this diagnosis seen at their clinic between 2001 and 2007.
Three-quarters of the patients were women, and mean duration of symptoms was 2.3 years.
A total of 79% believed the infestation was with bugs, 20% with worms, and 3% with eggs (nearly half the patients felt they were infested by more than one type of object).
Inanimate materials included fibers in 22%, and substances such as gravel, glass, and car oil in a few patients.
Biopsies, most often of the skin, were done in 80 patients.
Eighty patients also brought specimens in bags, envelopes, and jars -- and only one specimen actually contained a parasite, which was identified as a pubic louse.
In that case, parasitic infestation could not be confirmed on physical examination, and lice could not explain the patient's many reported symptoms such as nail abnormalities.
Another patient who believed that eggs, mucus, and "snake skin-like" materials were passing rectally turned out to have perianal herpes simplex infection.
The patients whose biopsy specimens revealed dermatitis often had excoriations and crusting resulting from scratching.
These skin scabs and debris can further confirm patients' belief of the presence of pathogens or foreign material, the investigators explained.
In addition, many of the patients had used caustic irritants on their skin as self-treatment, which could have caused or exacerbated the dermatitis.
The authors noted that the study raised certain questions about the potential value of biopsies for these patients, such as whether such testing influenced the patient-physician interaction, or if patients might be more adherent to treatment after a biopsy is done.
A strength of the study was the objective evidence of the histologic analyses, while a limitation was its retrospective design.

All authors reported no financial conflicts.

The Dictators of Non-Compassion: Gary Harvey Case and the Unexpected Twist

How long has it been since Gary Harvey fell down those basement stairs? Some days it seems as though it was only yesterday, but it wasn’t. It was January 21, 2006. It has been nearly seven years and little has changed, since the county took over and began their reign of merciless dictatorship.

Oh, Gary & Sara Harvey have gotten seven years older and he is no longer in the nursing home, but a ward connected to St. Joseph Hospital. Only his location has changed, as the desperate and uncalled for battle goes on with the power hungry feeding upon, demeaning, and controlling this husband and wife.
On December 10, 2010, I wrote:

Amazing! I can actually recycle my article as if it was current and remaining accurate. How often does that happen?
Here it is the holiday season of 2010 and Sara Harvey gets a letter from Bryan Maggs, Chemung County Attorney, stating that her visitations with Gary are suspended immediately. Isn’€™t that the same gift they offered last year? I’€™m so impressed with the repeat gift and the timing –” NOT! Would anyone be surprised to learn that Sara didn’t get to visit Gary on Christmas Day 2012?
It isn’t often that one can continue to recycle articles and pretty much be assured that there is going to be some excuse… some mistake… some problem raising it’s ugly little head and taking away anything that could be considered special for Gary and Sara, especially during this special holiday season. It isn’t often, unless the articles happen to involve Gary and Sara Harvey, Chemung County and St. Joseph Hospital.
Anyone see a pattern?
Where has Kevin Moshier been? Silent once again?

Guardianships are like adoptions in that it is the obligation of the guardian to look out for the ward he has been put in charge of. Unlike adoptions, the guardian is supposed to act on behalf of the ward and make decisions as the ward would make for self if capable. And then there is the attorney to insure the rights of the ward. So, where has Kevin Moshier (the appointed attorney) been when Gary Harvey’€™s wishes have been trampled upon?
As I reported in the past, “€œGary Harvey is the brain injured man from New York, who seems to have his own private “€œdeath panel”€ determined to kill him off and to make his and his wife’€™s life as miserable as possible, ‘until the sentence is carried out. One might think it could get no worse than it has been. One should never think such thoughts, lest one (or more) be shown that –€” for however bad –” things can actually get worse!
Just where was Kevin Moshier, the attorney who should be representing Gary against any wrongs, when the so-called ethic’€™s committee wanted to put Gary down by starving and dehydrating him to death? Did he stand strong and ask what these people were thinking and why they would even consider such a thing?
When they put the DNR on Gary, did Kevin Moshier demand they lift it?
When Sara Harvey’€™s visits with her husband were restricted, did Kevin Moshier step up to the plate and say, “€œI don’€™t think so. This is not what Gary would want. This is not in Gary’€™s best interest. Gary has a right to have time with his wife.”€ Did he? Of course he didn’€™t.
Sara is a danger to Gary? I didn’€™t even go to law school and I can see that the case against Sara is trumped up and so full of holes that even a pre-med student could dissect it in a few moments. But Kevin Moshier couldn’€™t or can’€™t?
Even more amazing is the fact that it was the guardian & pals that tried to kill off Gary, with Moshier quietly hanging out, though it was Sara who was, and has been, labeled the danger. (I have trouble getting my reality oriented thoughts around that one.)
What about the press conference where information was given about Gary Harvey’€™s case that should not have been given? Information that I believe was to turn people on Gary. Did Kevin Moshier do anything about that? Did he file on those responsible? ~ (August 5, 2011) The Silence of Kevin Moshier

Gary’s life is in the hands of these county vultures. Yes, the very group of people who attempted to have their ward starved and dehydrated to death, claiming he was terminally ill. Oh, but it is Sara that they treat and report as the threat? The irony is beyond belief. However, these people have not fooled everyone, nor have they covered their tracks as well as perhaps they think. The day will come when they answer to the one they can hide nothing from. It will be a day their cold hearts shall be placed in judgment and every cruel thought and action shall be reviewed.
Gary Harvey does not need to be under the guardianship of the County. He is their ward due to half-truths, non-truths, attorneys backing out at the last minute, attorneys not doing the job but taking the money and things such as that. They think we don’t know all this, but many of us do.
Many of us know they have surveillance cameras in the room because someone called in saying Gary’s life was in danger? Though Sara had nothing to do with this incident and was never suggested as being the possible threat being reported, guess who they use the cameras to watch? You got it. Never let a crisis or a lie go to waste. Take advantage and twist it this way and that way, until the outcome is able to be used against Sara Harvey.
Sara is treated as though she is some outsider that has no right to be concerned about Gary and that even if she does — it’s a bother addressing the issues brought to their attention. They get annoyed if she doesn’t accept the prepared response that might be leaving out some important aspects. How dare she? She’s only the wife. The person Gary picked to spend the rest of his life with.
A representative on the County’s side, Don Thomson, said he didn’t care what Sara’s expectations are. In other words, she’s nothing to him but a bother… a thorn in the side… something to be wiped off the bottom of his shoes. After all, she did challenge those in authority and attempted, as a non-attorney against attorneys to utilize the court system — they don’t take too kindly to that, it would seem.
Gary Harvey lives in isolation. He is allowed 4.5 hours a week visitation with his wife and the guard. That is, unless the County thinks up a new excuse to restrict or deny the visitation further. Needless to say, I find the behavior on the guardian’s side to be cruel, rude and very unprofessional. That opinion hasn’t changed in nearly seven years. Instead, it has been confirmed over and over again. However, there is now a new twist to the case.
Bobby Schindler, the brother of the late Terri Schiavo (the Florida woman who was court ordered to be starved and dehydrated to death by Judge Greer), has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Chemung on December 21, 2012 to become guardian of Gary Harvey.
According to the official Press Release:

“I have raised the question many times, ‘How can Chemung County, Guardian of Mr. Harvey, be acting in his best interest when they, in fact, tried to kill him?’ From all indications, it appears that Mr. Harvey has been warehoused and denied the opportunity to receive the care and rehabilitative services that would benefit his condition,” stated Bobby Schindler.
It is the hope that with this filing, the court will recognize that Mr. Harvey deserves the chance to receive aggressive therapy and rehabilitation. Certainly from Mr. Schindler’s experience with brain injured persons, he would afford Mr. Harvey the help he needs in the hopes to significantly improve his quality of life.

Didn’t the County claim there was no one available to be Gary Harvey’s guardian, so they had to step in? Well, now there is. Now there is Bobby Schindler. So, now, with Bobby Schindler willing and available, the county can feel free to resign and step out of the picture. Their services, even according to their claim, are no longer needed.
It is time that Gary Harvey be treated with the care and dignity he deserves. Bobby Schindler, as guardian, will assure that he is.

How to Fix Cook County’s Judge Problem

OBJECTION!: In Illinois, it’s easy for bad judges to stick around for life. Time for a change.

You’ve heard of Cynthia Brim, right? The 54-year-old Chicagoan made headlines last March when she was charged with misdemeanor battery for pushing one sheriff’s deputy and throwing her keys at another (a court-appointed psychiatrist declared her “legally insane” at the time). She has also racked up 18 years of near-universal negative ratings for performance at her job: judge for the Circuit Court of Cook County. Yet last November, nearly 64 percent of voters chose to retain her.
In fact, county residents voted to retain every single one of the 57 candidates on November’s circuit court ballot—including four judges deemed “not qualified” by most bar associations. This happens in nearly every judicial election around here: Since 1990, the retention rate has been 100 percent.
You already know part of the reason. Voting in judicial retention elections is like cramming for a test in a class you always skip: cribbing notes from someone who was there (in this case, the voting recommendations of the bar associations—all 11 of them) and trying to remember the answers when it comes time to pencil in all those arrows. “Staying informed is like a full-time job,” says Matthew Streb, a political science professor at Northern Illinois University.
But the bigger problem is that in Illinois, unlike in the majority of other states where judges get reelected, you don’t get to choose between the current judges—who have mostly been picked by the powerful ward and township committeemen in Cook County—and new candidates for the job. When jurists’ six-year terms are up, you simply get asked whether you want to retain them or fire them. Because most people don’t bother to vote in retention elections—or they just mark “yes” on a straight party line—even bad judges get electoral mulligans.
The irony of all this is that judicial retention elections—instituted by Illinois in 1964—were meant to combat the power of the political machine. Originally, they were the idea of Albert Kales, a law professor at Northwestern University, who observed how dominant parties controlled judicial appointments through partisan elections. Kales proposed that the governor select judges based on merit, using recommendations from a board of lawyers and nonlawyers, after which voters would decide whether to retain them. The process was meant to be a compromise, even though it was a sop to politics in its own way.
Isn’t there a better approach?
Yes—and it’s been happening in Colorado, says Elizabeth Monkus, a project director at the nonprofit Judicial Performance Commission of Cook County. In that state, an appointed committee (a mix of lawyers and nonlawyers) interviews judges, analyzes court data, and surveys everyone from litigants to social service workers. The result: detailed evaluations—published in a guide mailed to all Colorado voters—that compare judges not only to a universal standard but to other judges in the system. In the 11 election cycles since the program was created in 1988, ten judges have been voted out. “That system works really well,” says Monkus.
In Arizona, which adopted a similar procedure in 1992, the system has improved the judiciary by scaring bad judges away. “Rather than face the public humiliation of such a rating on the ballot and in the voter publicity pamphlet, these affected judges chose to retire,” a study of Arizona’s system found.
Could that happen here too? Chicagoans don’t scare easily. But it’s worth a try.

Memo: Wall Street Journal and other media outlets

To whom it may concern:

I read the Wall Street Journal Article decrying the attempt to censor and charge newsman David Gregory with a crime. The editorial was impressive and correct. The core of American culture is the First Amendment. Unfortunately, I was struck by the fact that no one is interested in the fact that right here in Chicago – Gloria Sykes, who authored several books including Shattered Sense of Innocence and produced several documentaries - is fighting alone against avenging miscreants who appear to have the complete backing of the Circuit Court of Cook County in denying her First Amendment Rights.

In an attempt to prevent Gloria Sykes from doing an expose of corruption in the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois Ms. Sykes has been subjected to unspeakable abuse. This abuse has been previously detailed in e-mails that various citizens have forwarded to the local media outlets. Indeed, the local media outlets have received anguished calls to help Ms. Sykes and no one is interested. This situation is common – but not the subject of this memo.

Ms. Sykes commenced her crusade after her mother complained of her older daughter’s financial exploitation. In a failed attempt to help her mother escape the ravages of ‘Elder Abuse” and “Financial Exploitation of the Elderly” journalist Gloria Sykes waded into the fray with both feet. Like other family members of victims, Ms. Sykes has been demonized, defamed, and discriminated against in an effort to ‘shut her up!’ The most recent outrage is still pending in the Circuit Court. The particular outrage that the media ought to be concerned involves the use of the ‘color of statute’ to separate a journalist from her research, her data, her notes and her intellectual property.

In an effort to prevent Ms. Sykes from continuing her efforts to author a publication and produce a documentary on the issue of ‘government supported elder abuse’ and expose a ‘Greylord’ type scandal, Ms. Sykes was subjected to what appears to be a totally improper ‘forcible entry and detainer action. (color of statute) Whether the legal proceeding was proper or not is matter for the Courts; however, the collateral activities are not. Ms. Sykes was beaten by the husband of the de facto plenary guardian for her mother and her notes, her research, her data, and her work product were stolen during the eviction. [It should be noted that the order of eviction is reported as removing Ms. Sykes from the 2^nd floor apartment located on the premises. Ms. Sykes occupied the entire building and had for many years.

It is obvious that the focus of the eviction was to gain access to Ms. Sykes valuable intellectual property – i.e. the transcripts of proceedings that detail the fact that for more three years the Circuit Court of Cook County has not had jurisdiction as the original proceedings to declare Ms. Mary Sykes disabled did not comport to the Illinois legislative scheme. The censorship effort was successful as most of the intellectual property associated with Ms. Sykes’ journalistic efforts vanished. In an effort to garner the intellectual property the miscreants caused Ms. Sykes was beaten as stated aforesaid. The Chicago Police were uninterested and the Sheriff’s office indifferent. Efforts by Ms. Sykes to obtain a criminal prosecution were fruitless!

Lost were transcripts of Court proceedings. The transcripts document the unusual proceeding that took place in the Circuit Court of Cook County and establish that Mary Sykes’ liberty, property, civil rights and human rights were violated and everyone (including yours truly) who attempted to help was subject to harassment and intimidation). Thousands of pages of material including a copy of Government Accounting Office report to Congress detailing dozens of other elder abuse cases that the Courts systematically denied were removed. Ms. Sykes has carried on this fight on her own. CBS has done at least one interview – it was quashed!

All that said, Gloria Sykes as a pro-se is attempting to recover her intellectual property in the Circuit Court - she filed a Petition for a Rule to Show cause. It is my understanding that the matter is scheduled for January 3, 2013. The respect (noun) for the 4^th estate’s work product and the First Amendment are issues that journalist Gloria Sykes is raising before the Circuit Court. She is protesting that by the simple procedure of a Forcible Entry and Detainer action our new national socialists were able to thwart the efforts of an award winning journalist to expose the perfidy and corruption that rival that of the Greylord Scandal. The only difference is that the victim in this case is unprotected and helpless to defend him/herself.

It appears to citizens that David Gregory’s grandstand action is protected journalism; however, it also appears that the exposure of Elder Abuse, the Financial Exploitation of the Elderly, and the systemic forfeiture of liberty, property, civil and human rights of the disabled is not! Yes, Tiny Tim, this is American in 2013! The Wall Street Journal should do a story on the Mary Sykes and Gloria Sykes adventure with the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois Probate Division – that story is much more important than ‘grandstanding’ with an illegal cartridge magazine.

Federal prosecutors say a physician with offices in Michigan City and Chicago submitted more than $3 million in false medical claims to private insurers and the government.

The U.S. attorney's office in Chicago says Paul Madison, 59, was indicted on 11 counts, including health care fraud. The charges are linked to Madison's practice at Watertower SurgiCenter in Chicago.

Madison is also medical director of Midwest Pain Clinic in Michigan City.

Prosecutors allege that Madison directed Watertower's staff to submit bills for unperformed procedures to private insurers and the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs.

Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Thank you for submitting a formal complaint to the DOJ in Chicago regarding the cases you have or have learned of. I have not seen the HHS response.

If you forward it to me I will respond immediately and answer fully and completely any question they have. The Sykes case is a bell weather case as it has all the elements of abuse.

The Illinois ARDC has reservations concerning lawyers complaining about the corruption in the Courts, but I have no concern. The ARDC filed a complaint against me for exercising my first amendment rights and even presented into evidence my letter to the Attorney General of the United States complaining about the extra -judicial acts in the Sykes case. As a citizen of the United States of America I can and will continue to speak my mind and file complaints when I see the liberty of a person is taken from them.

The facts of Sykes are quite simple.

Mary Sykes had two daughters. The older daughter took her to a lawyer and when they emerged the older daughter pursuant to a power of attorney had control of the Mary's estate. The documents were written in deceptive manner and Mary was clearly taken advantage of. When Mary found out what occurred she tried to unwind the transaction.

Mary first tired to obtain copies of the documents that she signed but the older daughter and the attorney refused her copies. Thereupon Mary sought help from the civic authorities and she went to the Court to obtain an order of protection.

The daughter countered with an incompetency proceeding. She enlisted the co-operation of two of the court favorites: Cynthia Farenga and Adam Stern. With their aid she was able to thwart any hearing on the petition for an order of protection and was able to avoid the jurisdictional criterion of 755 ILCS 5/11a - 10 --NOTICE REQUIRED BY STATUTE. this jurisdictional necessity was and is being totally ignored by the lawyers, the judges, law enforcement and the Illinois ARDC. No one is concerned that without the 14 day prior notice required by statute every order ended is void.

Under color of statute Mary's estate has been looted and Mary has been isolated from her family, her neighbors, and her activities. We believe that she lives under the constant threat of being placed in a nursing home to live in a pool of her own urine. Gold coins valued at approximately a million dollars have not been inventoried. Cash that was in a mattress has not been inventoried. The younger daughter has not been allowed communicates with her mother for periods in excess of six months. A younger sibling (of Mary's age 80 plus) has been denied communication with her sister (Mary) for extremely long periods of time. Three years have gone by and no effort has been successful in obtaining Mary's liberty rights, property rights, civil rights or human rights.

To expedite the vesting of the unlawful benefits anyone who questions the actions of the older daughter is subjected to punishment. The younger daughter has had her life disrupted and her assets attached and taken from her under color of statute. A court without jurisdiction on the mere whim of Faranga and Stern even tied up property out of the Illinois jurisdiction.

As you are aware even I have been subjected to harassment. Knowing that there was no jurisdiction ( a fact affirmed by the Appellate Court of Illinois) the two guardian ad litem (Farenga and Stern) joined by the older daughter prosecuted a sanction motion against me for attempting to investigate this travesty. The Appellate Court found that the Probate Court was acting without jurisdiction; however, the Illinois ARDC decided to investigate me and is presently prosecuting me for being unethical in questioning the majesty of a Court acting without jurisdiction and in concert with Farenga, Stern, and the plenary guardian in intentionally denying senior citizen Mary Stern of her liberty, her property, civil and human rights. Mary Sykes for three years has been in such condition!

If you wish to forward my e-mail to HHS I would be honored for your do so. Everyone who has heard of the Sykes case has one question, to wit: HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Unfortunately it has happened and is happening to dozens of senior citizens and other disabled people today and no one is interested. The seniors are in need of their own Martin Luther King! We have substituted a wrinkles for a darker hue to the skin as the criteria for second class citizenship. It is ironic that many of the very people who obtained first class citizenship by the heroics of Doctor King are active in the persecution of the disabled and the elderly. (The ARDC prosecutor, and the Sykes judge are all African American - how quickly we forget)

Let me say one thing - even though those given the responsibility to ensure that every American citizen's liberty, property, civil rights and human rights are fully protected a disinterested in the disabled and the elderly - we still in America and we still have Rights, privileges and immunities. I intend to exercise each right to the fullest and I expect all my friends to do the same. On December 7, 1941 citizens from all walks of life gave up their lives to join in the fight to protect these rights, privileges and immunities and thus today there is no excuse for us not to do the same. America is worth saving.

The year 2013 is going to be our year and the miscreants who seek to deny the disabled and the elderly their property, their liberty, their civil rights and their human rights are all going to pay the piper. In the Sykes case the miscreants are at the very least going to pay the income taxes, interest and penalties on the gold coins and cash not inventoried and (we assume) not reported as income on their Federal and State tax returns.

Seventy years ago, the names of 50 German-Americans appeared in a full-page advertisement in ten daily newspapers ‘in denunciation of the Hitler policy of cold-blooded extermination of the Jews of Europe.’ The most prominent signatory was George Herman ‘Babe’ Ruth.

Babe Ruth is remembered for his home runs on the field and his hot dog binges and other peccadilloes off the field. But as the American public is about to discover, there was another Babe Ruth – one who went to bat for women and minorities, including the Jews of Europe during the Holocaust.

Throughout the spring and summer of 1942, Allied leaders received a steady stream of reports about the Germans massacring tens of thousands of Jewish civilians.

Information reaching the Roosevelt administration in August revealed that the killings were not random atrocities, but part of a Nazi plan to systematically annihilate all of Europe’s Jews. In late November the State Department publicly verified this news, and on December 17, the US and British governments and their allies issued a declaration acknowledging and condemning the mass murder.

But aside from that Allied statement, the Roosevelt administration had no intention of doing anything in response to the killings. There was no serious consideration of opening America’s doors – or the doors of British-ruled Palestine – to Jewish refugees. There was no discussion of taking any steps to rescue the Jews. As quickly as the mass murder had been revealed, it began to fade from the public eye.

Dorothy Thompson was determined to keep that from happening. And Babe Ruth would help her.

Thompson (1893-1961) was the first American journalist to be expelled from Nazi Germany. She was once described by Time magazine as one of the two most influential women in the United States, second only to Eleanor Roosevelt. In the autumn of 1942, Thompson contacted the World Jewish Congress with a novel idea: mobilizing German-Americans to speak out against the Nazi persecution of the Jews.

As a journalist, Thompson understood the man-bites-dog news value of German-Americans protesting against Germany – especially in view of the well-publicized pro-Nazi sentiment in some segments of the German- American community. Just a few years earlier, more than 20,000 supporters of the German American Bund had filled Madison Square Garden for a pro-Hitler rally.

The World Jewish Congress agreed to foot the bill for publishing Thompson’s anti- Nazi statement as a newspaper advertisement.

She drafted the text and set about recruiting signatories. Seventy years ago, on Dec. 22, the “Christmas Declaration by men and women of German ancestry” appeared as a full-page ad in The New York Times and nine other major daily newspapers.

“[W]e Americans of German descent raise our voices in denunciation of the Hitler policy of cold-blooded extermination of the Jews of Europe and against the barbarities committed by the Nazis against all other innocent peoples under their sway,” the declaration begins. “These horrors... are, in particular, a challenge to those who, like ourselves are descendants of the Germany that once stood in the foremost ranks of civilization.”

The ad goes on to “utterly repudiate every thought and deed of Hitler and his Nazis,” and urge the people of Germany “to overthrow a regime which is the infamy of German history.”

The names of 50 prominent German-Americans appeared on the advertisement.

There were several notable academics, such as Princeton University dean Christian Gauss and University of Maine president Arthur Mauck. Leading Protestant theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, news correspondent William Shirer and orchestra conductor Walter Damrosch appeared in the ad. So did Freda Kirchwey, editor of the political newsweekly The Nation, and Oswald Heck, speaker of the New York State Assembly.

But the signatory who was by far the best known to the American public was George Herman “Babe” Ruth.

Widely regarded as the greatest baseball player in the history of the game, Ruth, known as the Sultan of Swat, at that time held the records for the most home runs in a season (60) and the most home runs in a career (714) as well as numerous other batting records. Having excelled as a pitcher before switching to the outfield and gaining fame as a hitter, the amazingly versatile Ruth even held the pitching record for the most shutouts in a season by a left-hander. Not surprisingly, Ruth was one of the first players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

By participating in this German-American protest against the Holocaust, Ruth used his powerful name to help attract public attention to the Jews’ plight. Timing is everything, both on the baseball field and beyond, and the timing of Ruth’s protest was crucial: precisely at the moment when US officials were hoping to brush the Jewish refugee problem aside, Babe Ruth helped keep it front and center.

In an era when professional athletes rarely lent their names to political causes, and when most Americans – including the Roosevelt administration – took little interest in the mass murder of Europe’s Jews, Babe Ruth raised his voice in protest. Ruth’s action is all the more memorable when one contrasts it with the other kinds of behavior that all too often land athletes on the front pages these days.

Filmmaker Byron Hunter and Ruth’s granddaughter, Linda Ruth Tosetti, have collaborated on a soon-to-be-released documentary, Universal Babe. Those who are accustomed to thinking of Ruth’s off-the-field activities in terms of binges and carousing will be pleasantly surprised to learn from the film of the slugger’s noble efforts on behalf of women’s baseball, the Negro Baseball Leagues and the Jews of Hitler’s Europe.
