Coroner: Snowmobiler drunk when he crashed into gate

A 39-year-old Volo man who died in a snowmobile accident in Wauconda Friday night had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, authorities said.
Shane Diaz died when he struck a cable fence near Illinois Route 176 and Fairfield Road in Wauconda, according to a toxicology report released Tuesday by the Lake County coroner.
Lake County Forest Preserve police said Diaz and a companion in were traveling through Lakewood Forest Preserve in an area not marked for snowmobiles. He hit a cable gate separating a farm field from preserve land, police said.
The other rider wasn't hurt.
