Editor's note: This Shark believes that the maintenance workers (judges and lawyers) in the Probate Court of Cook County should also be charged with larceny and theft of wards property.  Lucius Verenus, Schoolmaster,  ProbateSharks.com

SAGINAW, MI — A Saginaw County maintenance employee is charged with larceny in connection with the theft of money from the county's Probate Court office.
Sandra L. Burger, 57, is charged with larceny from a building, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
Burger's arrest warrant alleges she stole money from the office, housed in the Saginaw County Governmental Center at 111 S. Michigan in Saginaw, from May 9 to June 17.
County Sheriff William L. Federspiel said Probate Court officials on June 1 asked sheriff's officials to investigate money that was missing from the court's second-floor office. Investigators installed surveillance cameras in the office and reviewed the recordings on June 18.
Federspiel said investigators determined that Burger, a three-year employee of the county, stole $525 over that 17-day period.
"Through our investigation, we can prove she is responsible for that missing money," Federspiel said.
Saginaw County sheriff's deputies arrested Burger on June 18, and she was lodged at the Saginaw County Jail on a charge of embezzling more than $200 but less than $1,000. She posted a $1,000 or 10 percent bond and was released from jail.
Prosecutors charged Burger with the larceny count on Wednesday, July 9, and she turned herself in to authorities that day.
Federspiel noted the money is "taxpayer dollars."
Authorities said Burger has a pending hearing with county human resources officials. In court records related to whether she can afford her own attorney, Burger stated she is unemployeed.
County District Judge M. Randall Jurrens arraigned her on Wednesday, and he entered a not guilty plea on her behalf and released her on the bond she already posted.
Burger is scheduled for a July 22 preliminary hearing before District Judge A.T. Frank.
