This assisted suicide situation is a two edged sword.

Editor's note: This Shark observed that once Alice R. Gore's trust, bank accounts, gold teeth and estate were depleted by the Probate Court of Cook County she became valueless to the court.  At that time the 99 year old disabled ward of the court was deprived of sustenance and died from dehydration. Any protests of Alice's care by the nursing home was disregarded by the court.  Alice's loving daughter was removed as guardian and Ex-Judge Kawamoto and GAL Solo replaced her with a court adjudicated insane person.  Lucius Verenus, Schoolmaster, ProbateSharks.com

This assisted suicide situation is a two edged sword.   Tim, cited a case that placed a very strict standard on the concept of the 'living will.'   It had been a scandal that dead people were being subjected to medical heroics to the extent that maintaining a brain dead individual on life support was quick becoming a massive money maker.   Here in Illinois a plumber died (i.e. all conscious brain function ended) however for years the hospital at great expense kept the body functioning.  The issue of when death occurred was as controversial as that of when life commenced.   My own mother (who was dying of terminal metastatic cancer) with no hope of any life function, much less qualify life function after 15 minutes of no blood being pumped had her chest invaded so a young physician could message it in the vane hope of starting it up again.    (Her insurance and medicare were billed for the procedure)

The case that Tim cites has become the standard for the 'living will'  but it is not applicable to assisted involuntary suicide.   In fact it is consistent with it as THE CONSENT is a key factor.   This consent is furnished by a guardian (i.e. a person who is supposed to provide a reasonable accommodation for the wishes of the ward).    Thus, the Court and society engage in the legal fiction of consent.   The voluntary act of the corrupt guardian, corrupt jurist, and corrupt lawyer becomes the voluntary taking of the life of the ward.

The law is full of legal fictions - the California Law is a perfect opportunity to end the life of the ward when every drop of booty has been squeezed from the bank!   Run out of money - government won't pay any more - bingo - GRANDMA commits involuntary assisted suicide and the guardian, the judge, the lawyers, the nursing home and the 18 USCA  242 co-conspirators all go home happy!    Governor Moonbeam LIVES UP TO HIS NAME.
