JACKSON (AP) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals has denied state Rep. Brian Aldridge’s request to throw out a ruling that he pay more than $200,000 to his aunt, whose estate was plundered by his father.
The Appeals Court on Tuesday upheld a 2012 ruling by Lee County judge who ordered Aldridge to pay his aunt.
In 2012, a judge ordered Aldridge to pay Florence Aldridge $218,355. The judge said even though Brian Aldridge wasn’t personally liable for the more than $522,000 Florence Aldridge lost because of actions by his father, Louis Aldridge, the Tupelo lawmaker was responsible for what happened with their charity through which Louis Aldridge funneled some of her money.
Brian Aldridge is CEO of Touched By An Angel Ministries, which operates a camp for disabled children and adults.
