Aldridge indicted for embezzlement
By Jim Clark
State Rep. Brian Aldridge turned himself into the Lee County Sheriff's Department about 1:30 p.m. on July 4th.
His father, Louis Aldridge was arrested the day before.
The mother, Joyce Aldridge, turned herself in July 2.
All three have been indicted on criminal embezzlement. The charges stem from mismanagement of an aunt’s estate.
Their bonds have been set at $5,000 each.
The 2008 lawsuit was brought forward by Florence Aldridge, the widow of L. Aldridge’s brother, when she found almost all of her $700,000 assets gone.
She had asked the relatives to look after her estate because she suffered from depression and a bipolar disorder.
B. Aldridge has served as the Mississippi House of Representatives, District 17 since 2004.
He is also the founder and executive director of Touched by an Angel Ministries.
If he is convicted he must resign the office.
According to Johnson the arrests came from recent indictments by a Lee County Grand Jury.
