Happy Mother’s Day: Paul Pope seen in his booking photo after his arrest for allegedly stalking his mom.
It’s a Mother’s Day story that could have been torn from the pages of the National Enquirer.
Paul Pope, 45, son of Florida socialite and heiress Lois Pope, was arrested Saturday at a Cocoa Beach motel, records show.
The nature of the charges remains unclear, but the mother and son have been making headlines recently after she filed for an order of protection against him.

The Popes are the beneficiaries of a multi-million dollar estate received after the death of Generoso Pope, who founded the National Enquirer.
She filed for the protection after becoming increasingly fed up over his frequent demands for money, the records show.
Lois Pope initially received $200 million for the sale of the tabloid, and Paul Pope got $20 million.

She claimed in the document her son "maliciously and repeatedly harassed (her) with cruel behavior (that) is causing (her) to suffer substantial emotional distress and to genuinely fear for her safety."
In the paperwork, she also contended that her son lives "an excessive and extravagant lifestyle, but has never had meaningful employment."
Paul Pope could not be reached for comment Sunday.
The mother and son have sued each other numerous times over money during the past decade.
On March 14, the son demanded $875,000, the complaint contends, and that was on top of the $4 million he asked for in January.
