Audit The Ardc

June 02, 1989|By Harriett Cotharn.
CHICAGO — If the blue-ribbon committee had really wanted to offer meaningful suggestions for improving the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, it would have recommended that the ARDC be audited.
No public agency has the right to refuse to account for the way it spends its funds. With the aid and blessing of the Illinois Supreme Court, however, the ARDC has refused to be audited for more than 10 years. If ever a public body begged for legislative intervention, it`s the ARDC.
