An Irving Park neighborhood woman is accused of stealing more than $11,000 from an elderly woman who was under care.
Authorities said they began investigating Tiffany Scharringhausen, 25, after the son of the 85-year-old woman received an anonymous letter.
Police discovered that Scharringhausen had stolen $11,355.77 from the woman by withdrawing money from the woman’s bank account and depositing it into hers.
Scharringhausen was charged with one felony count of financial exploitation of the elderly, according to Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
Scharringhausen, of the 3900 block of North Richmond Avenue, is expected to appear in court today.
