Oklahoma County Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure, accused of fraud, is resigning

Judge's last day in job will be March 1.

An Oklahoma County judge accused of fraud is resigning.

 Oklahoma County Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure, accused of fraud, is resigning District Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure, 44, wrote the governor she will resign effective March 1. Her resignation is part of her plea agreement with prosecutors in her adoption fraud case.

The elected judge is set to be back in court March 2 in the felony case. She is expected to be sentenced then to probation.

She and her husband, Karlos LeSure, are accused of secretly giving away twin babies to her bailiff's sister, Ravonda L. Edwards, after becoming their foster parents in January 2008.

Prosecutors alleged Edwards raised the boy and girl even after the judge and her husband adopted them in May 2010.

The children called Edwards “Mommy,” witnesses said. They called the judge their aunt.
