Recruit dies during training at Naval Station Great Lakes

A recruit died during boot camp training this morning at the Naval Station Great Lakes, the Lake County coroner said.

The man, 19, was pronounced dead at 10 a.m., said Navy spokesman Mike Miller.

The recruit’s name was not being released because officials are still attempting to notify his next of kin, Miller said.

The circumstances of his death were not immediately available.
