Ichikawa keen to stay on despite planned censure motion against him
TOKYO, Dec. 2, Kyodo
Defense Minister Yasuo Ichikawa expressed a desire Friday to remain in his post despite plans by opposition parties to submit a censure motion against him in parliament, saying he will exert more efforts to restore the trust of the people in Okinawa Prefecture in the central government.

The move by the opposition camp came in the wake of a furor caused by a comment made early this week by Satoshi Tanaka, then chief of the Okinawa Defense Bureau, in connection with a government plan to relocate a key U.S. base within Okinawa Prefecture.
