McKINNEY, Texas (AP) _ A state district judge convicted of felony bribery last week will serve 10 years of probation and resign from the bench under an agreement announced outside the jury’s presence.
Judge Suzanne Wooten acknowledged the jury’s guilty verdicts on six bribery counts and one each of money laundering, record tampering and engaging in organized criminal activity. She agreed Monday to waive her right to an appeal.
The Dallas Morning News reports (http://dallasne.ws/tj5Fn7 ) that the 43-year-old was fined $10,000 and sentenced to more than 1,000 hours of community service.
Defense attorney Peter Schulte says Wooten was disappointed with last Tuesday’s verdicts, but was “ready to move on with her life.”
Prosecutors alleged that Wooten accepted bribes that boosted her 2008 election bid in exchange for future favorable rulings in her court.

Editor's note: Bribes, money laundering, record tampering, organized criminal activity and future favorable rulings. Sure sounds like the judges in the Probate Court of Cook County. Lucius Verenus, Schoolmaster, ProbateSharks.com
