January 19, 2014 LAS VEGAS - On the day before Las Vegas' giant New Years Eve celebration, a quiet hearing took place in Clark County District Court, and a confessed exploiter of the elderly/vulnerable was set free on drastically reduced charges. Serving over 120 days on five counts of exploiting; eight counts of burglary in the first degree; three counts of obtaining money, property, or labor under false pretense; and four counts of embezzlement against old/vurnerable persons, Patience Bristol was allowed to ring in the New Year as a free woman. Below is Bristol's original criminal complaint with 20 felony counts:
After having a public defender for several weeks, suddenly Bristol got an expensive attorney with connections to District Attorney Steve Wolfson, her case was transferred to another court, there was a draconian plea deal to drop nineteen charges, then she was released on her own recognizance to celebrate the New Year, and now only one charge remains! What a slap in the face to the LV Metro Detectives who worked for months putting together the twenty original charges listed on their Request for Prosecution filed with Wolfson.

We have to assume that the other 19 charges dropped were in exchange for something. But what exactly was that something? And no one expects Bristol to serve more time based on just one charge. Her release is either very good, or very bad news for the elderly/vulnerable. Either she ratted on her former employer and mentor Jared Shafer, or the FIX is in!
Jared Shafer illegally commingles funds from a company known as Signs of Nevada LLC with funds from his "wards" in his PFSN, Inc. bank account. Commingling of ward's funds is a violation of NRS 159.073 (III) (IV). Hundreds of A-frame portable billboards stored in Apex, 20 miles north of Las Vegas, and behind the Skyline Casino in Henderson, are owned by two of Shafer's closest associates, guardianship attorneys Patricia Trent and Elyse Tyrell who often represent Shafer in Family Court. Shafer's PFSN office manager Amy Deittrick is listed as the sign company's manager by the Secretary of State Sign companies such as theirs have the ability to make or break a political campaign by discounting the 8' by 12' movable political signs to certain judges, DA's, Sheriffs, and other politicians during election season. A number of incumbents and local attorneys are currently running for seats on the Clark County Family Court bench, and many of their names are beginning to appear on the Shafer, et. al. billboards now being placed on vacant lots throughout the county. Sources say that Shafer is the go-to guy when it comes to cheap political billboards - a sure fire way to endear himself to those with power over the lives and fortunes of his wards. I can't help but believe Bristol's arrest in November may have been a decoy to distract from much longer term crimes against the elderly committed by her mentor Shafer. If so, its possible that the DA is in cahoots with Shafer, and a deal was cut with Bristol to plead to the one and only charge, pay restitution (probably paid by Shafer), and be sentenced to time served with a plum job waiting for her with one of Shafer's cronies when the story is no longer relevant, and the heat is off. Or, if I'm wrong, Wolfson got a full confession from Bristol, and based on that information is actively pursuing Shafer on much more serious charges. Either way, the truth should be known by April 28, 2014, when Patience Bristol is sentenced - unless the U.S. Department of Justice steps in and takes this clear cut RICO case to a higher level as should have happened long ago. In the meantime, elderly/vulnerable people in Southern Nevada continue to be drained of their life savings by a group of politically connected vultures and grave robbers using the power of the Clark County Family Court to disguise their heinous acts.
